Travelling fast - the Railjet 2

The new generation of the Railjet is among the top novelties for Austria in 2026 and its reproduction is taking form at a fast pace. The first pre-series models have already been assembled and intensely tested – and they give a good hint at what the result will look like. After the success of the Nightjet, this completely new construction reproduces another ÖBB flagship train.

The models (Art. No.: 6200178, 6200179) convince with their delicate engravings and multi-part interior decoration, as well as the high-quality painting and inscription. Produced in scale 1:87 as usual, these coaches offer excellent running characteristics and, thanks to their detailed gangway connections and close couplings, they create the impression of a closed train formation. The first painted and imprinted models will be presented soon.

The large prototype sets standards, too: With the Railjet 2, ÖBB is introducing a new generation of long-distance trains. Based on the Viaggio Next Level by Siemens, the successor of the Railjet 1 combines modern convenience, innovative technology and improved energy efficiency – as a modular, integrated block train with optimum passenger guidance.
