In cooperation with vehicle manufacturer Stadler, ÖBB will be putting a total of 14 six-car double-decker trains in the elegant Railjet design into service over the next few years. The new trains will be gradually introduced on the western route between Vienna and Salzburg from the end of 2026, reaching speeds of up to 200 km/h. With 486 seats per train, they offer around 20% more capacity than the previous vehicles. Wide, barrier-free doors ensure fast passenger exchange, while the lowfloor entry areas enable comfortable and obstacle-free travel for people with reduced mobility as well as for passengers with heavy luggage, bicycles or prams. The new double-decker trains thus meet the needs of a wide variety of travellers.
