To replace the expensive and labour-intensive steam locomotives used in shunting services, the Austrian Federal Railways procured a series of 400 hp class 2062 diesel locomotives starting in 1958. The Jenbacher Works in Tyrol built a total of 65 of these two-axle diesel locomotives by 1966.
Featuring distinctive cast-iron front shields that also serve as ballast weights, these locomotives operated throughout Austria in shunting and construction train services. On the Lower Austrian branch lines, they were commonly seen hauling passenger trains with one or two coaches. The last of these locomotives were withdrawn from regular service in 2003; however, some remain in operation today as works and construction train locomotives, designated with the series number X262.
Note: The model is a new item, which is created by overprinting some details such as the road number or frame lettering. The specific details are taken over correctly depending on the prototype. The models are offered at an attractive RRP, as overprints may be visible to a certain extent.
